Scribe has acquired ANZ rights in The Dark Side: the inside story of how the war on terror turned into a war on American ideals by New Yorker staff writer Jane Mayer. This tour-de-force, about how the Bush administration crucified a number of honourable insiders and perverted the law to justify torture, has become an instant bestseller in the US, and has already been the subject of worldwide and Australian press coverage. Copies of the original hardback edition are being air-freighted in, and will be available in the week beginning 11 August (RRP $49.95; ISBN 9780385526395). We are rush-releasing our trade paperback edition for October publication (RRP $35.00; ISBN: 9781921372506).
